If you’ve clicked on this blog, we hate to be the ones to break it to you – your website may need some major TLC. The good news is that we’ve managed to crack the code after having worked on _____ website projects in the last 7 years. Though the list is endless, these are the top tips to include in your website cheatsheet.
1. Communication is key
Like every healthy relationship, communicating the right information is extremely important. However, it isn’t enough. Your target audience needs to be equipped with all the information they need at all times. This means regular upkeep and timely updates on whatever you have going on. We would recommend a monthly revisit to your website’s content to retain what is relevant, to check off what isn’t, and to see what can be added to it.
2. It takes effort to look this pretty
You could be finding the cure to cancer, but no one would want to know about it if your website isn’t easy on the eye. Jobs in the UI UX field (user interface and user experience) have seen a significant boom in the last decade because everyone wants to make their website aesthetically pleasing. Colour palettes, interactive features, user interface design – this is only the tip of the iceberg.
3. Your very own virtual salesperson
Chatbots have become extremely popular in the last few years. While having an automated response system is great on your social media, it’s much more beneficial on your website. So before you start curating that wordy FAQ section for your website, think about whether you could dispel that same information in the form of your very own virtual spokesperson.
4. Okay…but what’s the point?
The one thing worse than having to navigate through a wordy website is not knowing what you’re searching for. Having your CTA peppered all through your website helps register your motive in a potential customer’s mind.
5. Goldfishes are more patient than this
Recent research shows that the average human attention span has dropped to a grand total of 8 seconds, giving serious competition to our aquatic friends. Decreasing your website’s load time is essential to capturing your audience’s attention in the first few seconds they land on your website.
6. BRB, away from laptop
We have come to a glorious time in human history where we can access all the information the world has to offer right from the palm of your hand. Given our generational curse of impatience, making your website mobile friendly aids a potential customer’s viewing experience.
7. Confessions of a Shopaholic
Since the dawn of the worldwide pandemic, eCommerce has seen a rapid boom with companies making sales directly from their websites. Forget malls, the comfort of shopping from anywhere and at any time has officially taken over. If selling products is your thing, we would highly recommend shifting to an eCommerce friendly platform. Some great websites to start building your business on are Shopify, Wix and Magento.
