“Look out the window, you won’t be disappointed” – Siddharth Amin
Network, Cloud, Domain, Hosting, Mail Servers, HTML, CSS & JavaScript – words that are often met with a blank expression. Welcome to the life of the tech guy in a digital agency. With great power comes responsibility and unnecessary responsibility, like writing this blog. You would assume after writing a million lines of codes, words would come easy. But as code is gibberish to these peasants, so is life.
I stepped into the real world after completing an engineering degree, ready to make a difference in the world, only to realize i’m one of a million engineers released from colleges each year. Now that’s a very special feeling.
I joined Think Tree at the time of it’s growth spurt, and have come across all kinds of people rendered helpless by simple system updates, losing bandwidth due to movie downloads and the occasional incognito browser (for cache reasons obviously), among other things you’d find at a growing startup.
Being the person that understood tech the most, I’ve been barraged with the phrase, “Sid the Internet isn’t working”, after having made the mistake of ‘fixing the internet’ by following the most efficient tech solution – restarting the system. On been made responsible for the internet at the office, aspirations of becoming an Internet Service Provider have become a recurring thought.
I’ve seen a growth in size, experience and knowledge while working on numerous projects & meals – often working on multiple projects simultaneously (meals included). Taking up Client Servicing, Designing and Development for the Website Projects single-handedly has been a profound learning experience.
After staring at my screen and out the window for “research purposes”, here are a few Digital Marketing trends I have come across that are being implemented across agencies. Honestly I’d rather you learn something during the time you’ve spent going through this article.
- Dashboards
Research shows that too many open tabs is one of the top reasons for a receding hairline. Used internally, dashboards allow agencies to increase productivity and foster a culture of data transparency that can ultimately drive value across their firm.
Process management and project management allow creative teams to thrive. Growing agencies are often managing dozens of projects across multiple clients and, well, keeping that straight is a Herculean task. Scheduling plays an important role in time management. Be it the shortest Job first or Priority Scheduling, can have a positive impact on managing projects and achieving tasks effectively. Although these don’t stand a chance to clients demands, we’ve all been there.
- Chatbots
Chatbots have become extraordinarily popular in recent years, largely due to dramatic advancements in machine learning and other underlying technologies such as natural language processing. Today’s chatbots are smarter, more responsive, and more useful – and we’re likely to see even more of them in the coming years.
Many customers prefer interacting with chatbots as they are responsive, give answers promptly, accurately recall your entire buying history, and never lose patience. These virtual assistants offer outstanding customer service, meeting customers’ expectations and automating repetitive tasks – which means you can focus on more important work.
Sometimes we wish we had one to deal with Clients.
- Video Marketing
These numbers show the effects of incorporating video into your digital marketing strategy in 2019:
- 70% of consumers say that they have shared a brand’s video.
- 72% of businesses say video has improved their conversion rate.
- 52% of consumers say that watching product videos makes them more confident in online purchase decisions.
- 65% of executives visit the marketer’s website and 39% call a vendor after viewing a video.
- 100% of designers and video editors involved in working on your “ideas, suggestions & views” have given up on you.
To witness higher engagement with your video marketing, you can make a video post or start a live broadcast on Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn.
Live video is gaining popularity, with a large number of businesses using it for interviews, product demos, “behind the scenes” glimpses of events, life in the office, how products are made, etc.
- Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence will take over the world! Or maybe the lack of genuine intelligence, only time will tell.\
AI can analyze consumer behavior and search patterns, utilizing data from social media platforms and blog posts to help businesses understand how users and customers find their products and services. For example, Facebook messenger bots (which we’ll talk more about later) can help you automate and optimize your customer service.
AI is widely expected to be the biggest revolution in digital marketing since the Internet has taken over. AI won’t take our jobs anytime soon, but it will influence what we do in our jobs. By leaving the most time-consuming and logic-based jobs to AI, marketers can free up time to think creatively and ensure that AI efforts are aligned with strategic goals.
Thanks for wasting your time. My education means nothing.
