Google constantly keeps evolving its platforms and tools. Here are some updates that Google is planning to implement on its Ads platform
Advertiser Verification:
Last week, Google released an update on the security front. It will now be mandatory for advertisers to verify their identity. Google says the process of verifying all the advertisers around the globe will take close to two years. This mandate will be launched in the USA and it will be scaled globally thereafter.
Google said the advertisers will need to submit personal identification, business incorporation documents or other information that proves who they are and the country in which they operate. This information will be available to the user as a disclosure. Google also said that the failure to fully complete the verification program within the specified time may result in restrictions on advertiser’s ads serving.
An Update to the Call-Only Ads:
Google tweaked its Call-only ads. These ads show only on the mobile devices and are renamed as Call Ads. Users will now see a “Visit Website” CTA on these ads. The “Visit website” link expands your call ad, giving you greater visibility on the search results page. By tapping on the “Visit website” link in your ad, your customers will be taken directly to your site. Taps on the headline will still lead to a call. Google has aimed this to give your customers more flexibility in how they connect with a business, you can now include an optional “Visit website” link with call ads.
Free Google Shopping Rolling Is Out:
Users will start to see free shopping results on the SERP. It will now be possible for the merchants to sell for free on Google. Google took this decision seeing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the merchants selling online. For shoppers, it means more products from more stores, discoverable through the Shopping tab. For retailers, this means you can make your products discoverable in free listings by opting your existing product feeds into the surfaces across Google program. The feature will be rolled out only in the USA for now.
