In our line of work, the word ‘brainstorm’ is incessantly thrown around with the hope that an idea stems from them. Our job entails us to think creatively, but when the constant need to think of great ideas comes forth, individually it seems impossible, but with a group, it suddenly seems achievable.
Why is it that when we put our minds together, ideas come to us?
From what we’ve learnt, it’s because of what each individual brings to the table. Some may come with research, some an insight and others with wild ideas that may seem irrelevant or even borderline bizarre. But like the gift you didn’t like, it’s the thought that counts. Because when you sit for a brainstorm, you throw everything on the table. No idea is bad, too wild or not part of the brief. It’s what you make sense of that counts. Your thoughts could be the beginning of something great, that something that was missing all along.
Take any other profession for that matter, if you’re building a house, it’s a collaborative effort. While you could do it alone, it probably won’t be as good as doing it with a team. Ideas, like people, get lonely. If they meet a companion that brings out the best in them, they become better. The marriage of thoughts is what makes a strong, healthy relationship.
