Starting your career in any advertising agency is daunting but internships help you understand if that particular job or company is the right fit for you. Keep in mind that internships are a great way to network, develop your skills and grow both professionally and personally.
Before an internship in a digital marketing agency ensure that you have a resume that shows off all your skills, awards and achievements! It’s important and helps you connect better with the interviewer.
At Think Tree, you can be a part of any of our teams and if you’re in the undecided category like me, you can train under different teams to decide where your strengths and passion are, this helps you find your perfect fit. The duration of an internship with us lasts between 2-6 months, during this time, your creativity and spontaneity will be valued the most. With you are given the freedom to think amongst diverse and like minded individuals.
Things to remember during your internship are –
- Learn about Think Tree – Before starting an internship here you need to familiarise yourself with the background of this organisation. Who we are, what we do, what we have done and most importantly our client base. Furthermore, this makes your training period easier because you already know most of it!
- Build your goals – Never get too comfortable! Working at a digital marketing agency means you’re on your toes 24/7. This means you need to step-up and step-outside the box to truly stand out. Always set goals for you would like to achieve at the end of the internship with Think Tree, it helps you understand the extent to which you have grown and accomplished.
- Understand the dress code – Just like the Bangalore weather, we have fixed no dress code. But be aware, this does not mean you can wear your best beach clothes and walk in. (Although, on a Friday we bend the rules a little bit)
- Find a mentor – It’s a vital part of any internship to connect and seek guidance from a few people who will help you thoroughly during your internship. Ask them when in doubt but be sure that your questions are actually valid, after all, it is a professional workspace.
- Every day is new – Unlike most internships, at Think Tree, you’ll be given new tasks that constantly challenge your abilities. Learn to adapt and be flexible. Because, we believe that in order to be successful, you need to accept challenges and not shy away from them!
- Take initiative – At Think Tree, you’re encouraged to think out of the box and be proactive. If you like a project that is being worked on, don’t hesitate to ask if you can be a part of it! No one ever says no to a fresh perspective here, and we appreciate it! It’s detrimental to understand that you’re part of the Think Tree family, hence, your opinions are valued just as much! But this being said, always accept criticism with an open mind.
- Network – Don’t be shy to reach out, unplug and socialise with everyone at Think Tree, we’re a bunch of hard-working but fun-loving people Stay late at the office and make conversations or join events that are being hosted, you can even suggest ideas for group events too!. Normally, we host football matches, after-office parties and/or other team-building activities. It is mandatory for every intern to join them, we need to get to know you as well! You never know how well you’d get along with another team member. Make use of these opportunities to create memories and friends!
- Speak Up – We believe that it’s vital to stand up to your values, morals and beliefs. While it is easy to be swayed by everyone’s opinions and thoughts, it’s imperative to portray your personality by taking a stance on what you consider to be right. Everyone at Think Tree are equal and if at any you have complaints or so on, feel free to talk to any one of us!
- Question, Question and Question again – Don’t be afraid to ask us for help! We love seeing an inquisitive brain lurking around and asking us questions that boggle our brains! We believe that there is nothing such as a stupid question. Hence, feel free to ask as many questions as possible. In an agency such as ours, it’s essential to check all the tiny boxes before leaving at the end of the day.
- Enjoy it – An interns life is tiring but always exciting. You’ll be part of a whole new atmosphere with more responsibilities but you’ll constantly learn and grow from your surroundings. Savour and grasp knowledge from every moment. With the wide smiles, great conversations and even better team members, we assure you that you’ll never have a dull moment during your internship!
